The Volpino Italiano is a small spitz with a harmonious and compact build. It has long, white or red and bristly fur. Male dogs have a height of 27-30 cm, while bitches have a height of 25-28 cm.

History

Volpino Italiano originates from Italy, and the name means “little Italian fox”. The breed has a long history and probably has the same origin as the German Spitz and the Japanese Spitz. Traditionally, the breed was used to herd and guard sheep in the Italian mountains.
