Characteristics and temperament

The short-haired collie is a dog with a friendly attitude, without a trace of nervousness or aggression. It is an excellent companion dog, friendly, cheerful and active, showing kindness towards children and other dogs. As a herding dog, the breed is active, easily trained and enjoys working. The collie has also proven to be capable as a working dog.

Appearance and size

The short-haired collie is known for its beauty and stands with unchallenged dignity. It has a proportionate and physically strong body without bulkiness or coarseness. The coat is short, flat and close-fitting, with a streaked topcoat and dense undercoat.It does not need to be trimmed or cut. The breed comes in three recognized colors: sable and white, tricolor and blue merle. The only difference from collie longhair is the fur length. The height at the withers for male dogs is 56-61 cm, and for bitches it is 51-56 cm.

Fur grooming

The short-haired collie has a coat that is easy to groom. It is sufficient to brush through the fur at regular intervals, especially when it sheds. If necessary, it can be bathed.
