History:

In the late 19th century, the modern Russian Duster was bred by incorporating breeds such as the Harrier and Scandinavian dogs. This breed is also related to Finnish dogs and the Dunker hound. In the past, the Gontjaja dog was common in Finland before the Russian Revolution.

A Russian Duster has a wedge-shaped head shape with an elongated and straight skull that has a smooth transition to the muzzle. The nose is broad and slightly forward, and the eyes are dark brown and oval. The neck is short and about as long as the head, and the dog has a strong and massive bone stock with oval and compact paws.

Fur and Grooming:

Russian duster has a short and straight covering coat with a well-developed undercoat. The colors vary from reddish brown to greyish with spots or dull dots. Small white markings are allowed on the chest and toes. The fur requires little care.
