Today, the Portuguese water dog and Irish water spaniel are some of the poodle’s relatives.France is considered the poodle’s country of origin, and it is recognized that the Great Poodle is the oldest variant of the breed. However, the miniature version of the poodle already existed in Italy in the 16th century. In the 19th century, the smaller poodles were bred by using small specimens of the large ones. Both sizes were called poodles, and later they were divided into small poodles and large poodles.Today, there are four size variants in Norway: large, medium, dwarf and toy. In England and the USA they only have three varieties: toy, medium and large. The medium poodle must be a harmonious and well-balanced dog with healthy movements and a proud attitude. It has an intelligent expression, is alert and active. The fur is characteristically frizzy and does not shed. The medium poodle comes in various colors such as black, white, brown, grey, apricot and red.

Fur care and health:

To maintain the poodle’s proud and dignified expression, regularlygood coat care is important. The fur can be cut and styled in various styles such as continental lion cut, English lion cut, puppy cut/puppy lion, toilette 60 and lamb cut. The poodle is also a breed that many people with allergies tolerate.
