Characteristics and temperament:

Kooikerhund is a lively, agile and independent dog with sufficient endurance and courage. It is also friendly and quick, but not particularly barky. The breed is known for being faithful, sociable and friendly. Outside the hunting season, the Kooikerhunden has the task of finding and killing vermin, and therefore it must be willing to work, quick and tough. It is a real hunting dog that is attentive, energetic and shows joy in its work.

Look:

Kooikerhund has a harmonious and square overall impression. It is orange-red two-tone and almost square in body proportions. The dog moves with a high carried head, and the tail with a well-developed plume is carried in or over the back line during movement. The ears are medium-sized and hang close to the cheeks without folds. It is highly desirable to have black hair tips, also known as “earrings”, on the ears.

Health:

Kooikerhund is generally a healthy and healthy breed. There is a breed-related musculoskeletal disease, but sick puppies are easy to identify early and are excluded from breeding. In addition, common diseases such as patella luxation, eye disorders and dental problems can occur in smaller breeds.

Faults and disqualifying faults:

There are certain faults that can occur with Kooikerhund. For example, the ears may be too small or half erect, the tail may be curly, and the fur may be curly or silky.
