History and Origin
The Irish red and white setter has its roots back to the so-called setting spaniels, which are the basis for most setter breeds. Originally bred for hunting qualities, the red and white setters gained popularity in the early 19th century in Ireland. The full red Irish setter, which can be traced back to the red/white setters through selective breeding, gradually became more popular. In the 1970s there were only a small number of pure Irish Red and White Setters left in Ireland, but through a “rescue operation” and committed individuals, the number has increased to around 3,000 globally today.Characteristics and Mentality

At the same time, it is friendly and social, which makes it a great family dog that fits well into an active family.Size and Appearance
