Size and appearance

Male dogs have a height of 65-72 cm, while bitches have a height of 60-68 cm. The Grosser Schweizer Sennenhund is the largest of the four Swiss Sennenhund breeds. It has an impressive physique with a solid and muscular frame.The coat is three-coloured with a black base color and symmetrical maroon and white markings. The breed has a double coat with a thick, medium-long cover coat and a dense gray or black undercoat. Short top coat is acceptable if undercoat is present.

Fur grooming

Grosser Schweizer Sennenhund has an undemanding coat that only requires brushing when necessary. It sheds twice a year, and baths can be given if needed.
