History:

The Great Dane, originally from Germany, has its history linked to the ancient Roman Molossians that were used as guard and fighting dogs. The aim of the breeding work was to create a dog with endurance, strength and height, while at the same time being intelligent and gentle.

Characteristics and temperament:

The Great Dane is primarily bred as a loving family dog. It is friendly, loyal and devoted to its owner, but can be somewhat reserved towards strangers. The breed is self-confident, courageous, easy to train and is well suited as a company and family dog, with a desire to be social and non-aggressive.

Size and appearance:

The Great Dane must have a smooth and harmonious physique in the correct proportion. According to the standard, male dogs should not exceed 90 cm in height at the withers, and bitches should not exceed 84 cm. The breed comes in three color variants: yellow and tiger, harlequin and black, as well as blue.

Fur care:

Great Danes require minimal grooming. If necessary, it can be bathed, and during shedding periods it can be useful to brush the coat.
