Description of Head, Neck, Forelimbs, Hindlimbs and Movements

Entlebucher Sennenhund has a slightly wedge-shaped head that is dry and in proportion to the body. The skull is relatively flat and wide, and the muzzle gradually tapers. It has small, dark brown to hazel eyes with a lively and attentive expression. The ears are set high and wide, and they hang triangularly with rounded tips. The neck is rather short, thick and muscular. The forelimbs are muscular, short and placed well under the body. The hindquarters are broad and muscular with straight and parallel legs. The movements are free, ground-winning and fluid, with good kick-off and parallelism seen from the front and back.

Entlebucher Sennenhund has a streaky coat with short, close-fitting, hard and shiny cover hairs. It also has a dense undercoat. The typical color combination is black ground color with symmetrical tan markings (yellow to rust red) and white markings.Tan markings are found over the eyes, cheeks, snout, throat, sides of the chest and on all four legs.
