The breed is muscular and well-proportioned, with a strong bone stock and straight front legs with good width. The shoulders are strong and muscular, and the back is rather short. The chest is deep and broad, with well-sprung ribs. The tail is short, set low and not docked. The movements are light and springy.Fur and color
The American Straffordshire Terrier has a short, shiny and stiff coat. The coat can be any color, including solid, multi-colored or spotted. More than 80% white, black and tan, as well as liver colour, should be avoided.Size and weight
Ideal wither height for male dogs is approx. 46-48 cm, and for bitches approx. 43-46 cm. The size and weight should be in proportion.Faults and disqualifying faults
Any deviation from the breed standard is considered a fault, and the degree of severity depends on the size of the deviation in relation to the breed description. More serious faults include drooping ears, flesh-colored nasal cartilage, light eyes, pink eyelid rim, too long or poorly carried tail, and under or overbite.
